Have you found any good resources for teaching writing?
This book by Regie Routman is a goldmine for teachers of writing! She simplifies the process, helps you figure out the most essential things you need to teach, and gives solid ideas on how to do so. It comes with a dvd showing her teaching some of the lessons herself. It includes ideas on setting up a writer's workshop, but isn't too nice to the 6-Traits folks, as Routman feels that traits should not be taught in isolation

What professional books have you read and used to help teach reading?

Has anyone spent any time with Regie Routman's Reading Essentials? I think it's about the best professional reading book I've read, and I'd love to hear others' thoughts about it. ~ Mister K

- I'm a big fan of the books of Kate and Sarah M. Klise, two sisters who write novels for middle readers (9 and up, best for kids who can make connections well). Their best series begins with Regarding the Fountain, and continues with a variety of Regarding the... books. ~ Mister K
